Located on a small hillock in Grimgate’s outskirts, the Mole’s Hole is a well-kept establishment that whets the whistle of any travellers making their way out the city, or who just arrived. Little do they know that beneath their feet, the masterminds of one of Baldur’s deadliest crime syndicates sketch out their macabre plans and greet each other with bloodstained hands.
Whilst many locals in Grimgate’s outskirts are aware of the true nature of the Mole’s Hole Tavern, the same cannot be said for the many out-of-towners who visit the establishment after their arrival in the city. The quaint and unassuming tavern stands alone on a hillock at the outskirts, unassuming to most passerbys. Whilst anyone can walk inside, order a pint and a roast and enjoy an unassuming afternoon, beneath their feet a duplicitous evil takes place.
For the Mole’s Hole is in truth the headquarters of the Nova-Rossa, one of the deadliest gangs in Grimgate. Though the tavern above board is a legitimate business, the basement below leads to their hidden subterranean lair, carved from old wine caves and cellars from the building’s history as a vineyard. These caves connect all the way into the heart of Grimgate via its sewers, though the labyrinthine nature of these paths makes them almost impossible to navigate for the uninitiated. It does, however, grant the Nova-Rossa a large advantage over their rivals, allowing them to easily move in and out of the city limits through the blockades, without detection.
