A Veteran Valadhar warrior with centuries to his name. He recalls the days before Hinatal sank beneath the sands, and his people joined their human allies in their vain attempt to fend off the Elemi invasion of Goltia. In recent years, since Hinatal emerged from the earth, he has fought both his brethren and invaders, earning a ghastly scar in the conflicts, but one that commands fear and respect from his inferiors.
In the years before Hinatal was cursed and sank beneath the sea of sand, Reyvith was a fledgling warrior of the Valadhar: the elite order of Hinatal’s spell-knights. He stood among the soldiers fighting against the Elemi invasion in Goltia, watching helplessly as their army was eviscerated by the powerful elemental conjurations of their foe. Weeks later, Goltia would fall. Only a year after that, Hinatal with it, swallowed by the sands as its once fertile rivers suddenly dried. In these years, the young Reyvith was left jaded and hollow. His faith in Glanion, and all the divine, was thoroughly tested.
In the centuries that was spent beneath the sands, Reyvith and his people endured, unwilling to abandon their golden home, assured that it would one day rise again. Indeed, such hopes turned true, but in those darker years Reyvith found his faith renewed, for his part in maintaining the morale of his people taught him that there was more to protecting his people and culture than drawing a blade. Such a measure was only a last resort. When Hinatal resurfaced, however, it seemed the last resort was called on again and again. At first, it was against their kin, as tensions began to flare months after the city’s resurfacing, as the Men and Elves of the city put their swords against each other, centuries of racial tensions boiling over in a night. Here, Reyvith along with the rest of the Valadhar fought to maintain a sense of order, but it was in vain. He cut down many of his human brethren in that time, until the city would become united again after it was besieged by the Sultan of Sudd Tohst, Hakim.
During the siege, Reyvith was heavily wounded, his face cut apart by shrapnel bombs thrown by their attackers. Though they emerged victorious, Reyvith felt his victory was pyrrhic. Whatever faith he had rekindled in that time beneath the sands was quickly repealed, capped off with the city attacked again a year later by the forces of Mindoriel herself. Whilst his combat prowess and authority has earned Reyvith a place as a captain within the Valadhar, few are aware that their leader’s faith is all but lost, and he simply continues for his people, pushing himself on through self-assured delusion.
