An Ancient Fey spirit and guardian of Renmaeth’s forests. She can take the form of her choosing in spirit. For physically she resides in the Fey World, yet can project her spiritual form into Tharador’s physical plane. There she provides guidance and care to the residents of her forest. Though now her attention turns to the far way woods of Formen, where it seems their own guardian has begun to fall to a path of madness or darkness.

As Renmaeth, daughter of Tharador and keeper of his body went to rest, she gave life to several souls within her slumber, dreaming protectors of Tharador that existed physically within her dreamscape, yet could project their spirits within Tharador. Gwynevel and her brother Melwyn were two such souls, born to watch over and grow forests from the great peak of Farlena, above the city of Unviel, to the ancient fallen kingdom of Baladir. Gwynevel set to reign in the north and west, her brother to reign from the south and east, the siblings brought much prosperity to the region, growing the forests wide and dense with foliage and wildlife. The elves of Nan Thalias held much respect to the sibling spirits, bringing offerings in exchange for successful hunts, pickings from expeditions of fruit gatherings and any materials they would need in the construction of their homes, though ensuring never to fell a tree.

For millennia there was peace with this, though the arrival of the first men saw unbalance in this. Men settled in Baldur not long after their war against the Goliaths came to an end. They felt unrest in the forests of their northern born siblings, and it wasn’t long until the same unrest came to them. Relentless was man in his conquest of their forest. Cutting the forest in twine, splitting the domain of Gwynevel and Melwyn in two, with Gwynevel retaining the much connected “Fringe” that remained in Nan Thalias, her brother being isolated and trapped within the human kingdom.

Vigilant was Gwynevel forever onwards, protectful of her forest from all men that ventured through it in future, quick to end the lives of any that would hunt in her lands without offerings, or fell the trees so thoughtlessly. Crafting warriors from the bark and befriending the sages of the druidic circle, she formed a formidable army to combat future deforestation by men, being quick in a counterattack against any logging camps that began to sunder great and ancient trees from her soil.

Centuries later and she keeps an uneasy peace between the realm of Baldur and her forests, ever vigilant at the borders, and a host of Feywalkers at her disposal should matters turn south. Yet now she is called north, a request given by Feywalkers local to Formen, though in the Feyworld this is known as the Spotless Wood. Their home has fallen to a strange slew of spells, with its very fabric at risk of being torn asunder. Gwynevel must thus leave her home in the fringe for a time, and travel to the Spotless Wood where she aims to confer with its guardian, Faenror.
