The Head of House Jernbark, Gungnir’s House has called Steinved Forest their home for generations. Though the recent catastrophes of war and the cataclysms of Leacianus have left it scarred, a shell of its former self. With it has come interlopers, those delving into the woods, be it out of curiosity, a want to heal it, or seeking some illustrious fame buried in the forest’s anomalies. Gungnir will ensure they only find death.
House Jernbark has lived in Steinved forest for centuries, giving their allegiance to both Faenror as their protector, and Queen Userios as the ruler of their noble house. For all these years, their house flourished under the protection and discipline of these rulers of the Fey. Though the Jernbark’s existed upon the mortal plane, the favours they were bestowed by the Feybound left them as one of the more powerful houses of the plains of Formen and Karkanoth. Yet nothing could prepare them for, nor save them from the brutalities of all out war, waged by the Men of Formen and High Elves of Leacianus. Alas, Steinved forest was ravaged, and so too was the noble house, its patriarch slain, leaving the eldest son, Gungnir, to take his place.
Gungnir thus elected an outwardly hostile policy to any interlopers who might venture into their woods or nearby afterwards. Hunters, herbalists and any who might venture into their woods were lucky to escape with their lives if Gungnir or his surviving outriders caught wind of them. For Gungnir, his house had lost its strength, and other neighbouring houses might take advantage of their weakened state. Showing strength, whatever it cost, was paramount to their survival. Among many of those slain are interlopers travelling into Steinved forest to recover artefacts left behind in the wake of the Liturium War: either magical objects lost in battle, or mysterious creations forged in the cosmic tears appearing through the woods.
Regardless, many have lost their lives at the hands of Gungnir and his kin, and only a few have survived to tell the tale of the relentless pursuit they faced from the hooved beasts. Now, driven by bloodlust, they pursue the druids and Feywalkers that have come to their very woods to try heal and aid them. After the first blood was split, the druids retreated, hoping for outside intervention to cure the mind of Gungnir and his kin so the druids might continue their work.
