The Vicar of Grimhelm, Atticus, like his predecessors is a patron of Horauthin. His position in the military capital must always be filled by a war priest like himself, and Atticus is one of the more proficient in recent years, being a veteran of the Golden Griffins and having seen action in the coup attempt from five years prior. Now he is at the warfront once again, forced to draw his blade in defense of his city, while incantations from Horauthin empower his strikes.
The son of a humble stonemason born in Grimhelm’s outskirts, Atticus had always believed he would follow in the footsteps of his father. A man that led a simple life, one devoted to his craft, serving the city of Grimhelm by upkeeping its walls for decades. Atticus, however, wished for more, joining the Golden Griffins at sixteen, wishing to see the world and hone his skills with a blade as he did. After several years of service, he found himself grievously wounded at the beginning of the Liturium War, many unsure if he would survive at all. His years of experience now counted for naught, and it was unlikely he could wield a blade again. In the time that he was bedridden, he was often visited by a Priest of Horauthin, Father Trout. It was custom for those wounded beyond service in the Griffins to receive counselling from a member of the Divine of War’s church, a means to help them come to terms with their uprooted lives.
For Atticus, he found solace in the words spoken to him by Father Trout, having heard the priest’s tales of the grim fate so many soldiers meet within their line of duty. Thus he was inspired to join the ranks of Horauthin’s clergy when his body recovered, studying under Father Trout until his own induction into the role of priest. Atticus was charismatic and well-liked amongst his peers, though proved himself more as a capable warrior, despite his injuries. As a priest of Horauthin, he was bound by both sword and scripture. When the coup attempt of 3E305 occurred, he threw any notions of neutrality he was bound to out the door, drawing his blade for his kingdom in the ensuing chaos.
Despite his fragile body, Atticus surged with divine power, his old injuries seemingly vanishing as he drew his sword, unleashing a destructive gale of blades against the traitorous soldiers of General Alexei. When all was said and done, he had made a mark for himself among the nobles of Baldur, who insisted to the Church he be given the rank of Vicar and assigned to Grimhelm instead. Thus he has remained there for five years, and though he tried to hold neutrality in the current rebellion, he has stepped out of the shadows once again to defend his realm as the ships of Draksborne lay siege to his home city.
