Cursed with an incurable pestilence by Idinehleith, Arch Paladin Tyrius III vowed to act as the leader of his order until his body and mind failed him. He persevered, but his final expedition into the desert of Sudd Tohst saw his end, as he heroically sacrificed himself in a final show of strength to save his comrades. In such a selfless end, and devotion to Erdrydion in life, he was given a place among his patron’s Selvaneri.
Since the Battle of Duskweave, Tyrius III has stood as the head of the Order of Erdrydion. Originally a temporary position until a replacement was found for his predecessor. Tyrius’ commanding charisma and sharp mind earnt him admiration from his peers who opted for his position to become permanent. Since reigning in this position, Tyrius has seen much suffering begin to fester in Tharador at the hands of the Dark Spawn of Mindoriel, weaving schemes through their agents across the land. Hoping to rip them out root and stem from the land, Tyrius began an inquisition in many corners of the continent to uncover them. In this quest, however, he came into contact with a dark cult of the Spawn of Pestilence: Idinhelieth. In the heart of Nan Thalias, his order was able to purge the cult and its sickness from the land, though at a great cost. Many of his paladins and clerics lay dead or doomed to die, with Tyrius himself stricken with an incurable blight.
Cedhelieth’s most blessed healers told him the disease would take his life within six months. That was five years ago. By the indomitable will of Erdydion alone, Tyrius III has persevered, unrelenting in his quest, giving no quarter to the forces of evil that might be brought by his frail state. Though his body has weakened far past its prime, he can still wield a sword and invoke the power of his patron to smite his foes, and his same charisma and authoritative nature has not waivered. A leader he remains, so much so that he has joined the latest expedition in search of a cult of Myrothlir in Sudd Tohst, after alleged sightings of undead and several expeditions sent by the Church of the Tharameni failing to return.
Many in his order and the church warned Tyrius that the journey may kill him. He has always maintained the sentiment that he would rather die in service to Erdrydion, than stay cloistered on a straw mat in a sanatorium, waiting for Namneri’s embrace. In the plains of Sudd Tohst he found his death, but in a valiant sacrifice against an evil that may have slain their entire expedition. His soul flowed to Namneri’s Chalice thereafter, at which point he was reborn as a Selvaneri to Erdrydion. In horror he watched on as the remainder of his expedition would continue down a path falling into the dark spawn of Mindoriel’s hands, and ultimately lead to the current attack on Syelden. Feeling party responsible, he aims to undo his wrongs, as best he can.
