Long has Ramulek rested in the bowels of a forgotten ruin, buried beneath the sands of Idinhelieth’s Desert. Time has ravaged the guardian’s mind, to the point he has forgotten the purpose of his station, yet only remembers its importance: that none are to enter. Thus, when a group of explorers delved into his ruin, Ramulek responded without mercy, tearing them to shreds while a sole survivor fled in terror. Many have tried to slay Ramulek since, and the ancient dragon has responded with conjuring powerful sandstorms across the sands, preventing any from drawing near it. Yet the sandstorms are now beginning to travel beyond the desert, painting the savannah and even the green oases of Sudd Tohst in red dust, smothering crops and destroying plantations. Famine will surely follow, if the beast’s rage is not quelled.

A dragon of the ancients, who has resided in the depths of the ancient ruin of Kara’ka since the First Era, guarding a treasure long lost. What this treasure might be is long lost to its mind, which has been shrouded in madness owing to its isolation for the last two millennia, and such knowledge has long since passed out of the annals of history, even to the most scholarly and ancient lorekeepers among the Sun Elves of Hinatal. They can only theorise what lies in Kara’ka’s heart, for Ramulek’s guardianship does not grant exception to them, and those that have tried to enter have perished. Though with Hinatal now acting as a trade jewel in the deserts of Sudd Tohst, rumours of Kara’ka and its alleged treasure have begun to pass through taverns, mercenary guilds and markets to the ears of the unworthy.

As such, several adventurer expeditions have wandered into the sands in search of the ancient ruin, though few have returned, and those that did reported no success in finding the coveted temple. While hope seemed lost, one expedition prevailed in finding the ruin, with a sole survivor returning. He warned of an enormous dragon in the halls of the sandstone ruins, which destroyed his entire expedition before they could even muster a response. Thereafter, expeditions of dragon hunters and treasure hunters alike ventured to Kara’ka, in what was becoming a sort of gold rush in the arid desert. Though Ramulek defeated most with ease, the dozens of minor injuries he sustained were beginning to wear upon him, and in response to protect himself, he began conjuring powerful sandstorms from the heart of the ruins instead, powerful and disorienting enough to stave off any would-be dungeon delvers. Yet a new complication arose with it, for the storms have raged for weeks, destroying villages, plantations and carrying far beyond the sands, into the savannah, grasslands and oases to the west, ravaging crops and fertile lands. Famine is already looking likely in Sudd Tohst, but if nothing is done soon, the whole of southern Tharador may face starvation as the storms continue further west.
