A demon of Nosmarka’s Abyss, who has used its infernal powers to bring the Cult of the Coiled Serpent to Tharador. Here it as given them the tools to profligate, using its inherent abilities of deceit and trickery to lower the guard of those who have fallen victim to the cult, bestowing followers and sacrifices alike onto them. Its motives are a mystery, though it can only stand to benefit from the chaos weaved by the serpentfolk from afar.
Hailing from the Sixth Reverie of Deceit within Nosmarka’s Abyss, Rakshasa the Terrible is a creature of pure malevolence, forged in the fires of treachery and deception. A demon whose motives remain shrouded in mystery, Rakshasa has long lingered in the shadows, pulling the strings of mortals for its own unknown ends. Its power over deception is nigh unrivalled on the surface world, though in its home it is but another drop in a bucket full of lies. Though it is one of the few of its kind to be able to freely travel between the Abyss and the mortal plane, and has made full use of this dark gift to bring the Cult of the Coiled Serpent to the shores of Tharador.
Rakshasa did not arrive in Tharador with the cult itself; rather, it orchestrated their escape from Edrador from afar, like a puppet master tugging on unseen threads. Using its infernal abilities, the demon provided the cult with the tools and knowledge they needed to proliferate in this new land, lowering the guard of Tharador’s people and ensuring that the cult could take root. Though it is not directly involved in the day-to-day workings of the cult, Rakshasa watches from the Abyss, sowing chaos wherever it can. Every follower the cult gains, every sacrifice they make, is as much a gift to Rakshasa as it is to the Serpent.
What drives Rakshasa is not easily understood, for the demon’s mind operates on levels beyond mortal comprehension. Its existence is tied to the endless web of deceit it spins across Minera, and through the cult, it weaves new strands of chaos into the fabric of Tharador. Some say Rakshasa delights in the suffering of mortals, feeding off their confusion and despair, while others believe it is simply furthering its own unknown agenda, one that stretches across dimensions and into the very core of Nosmarka’s Abyss.
Despite its terrifying nature, Rakshasa remains an enigma even to those who serve it. The cult views the demon as a benefactor, an ally in their mission to spread their influence, but in truth, they are as much pawns in Rakshasa’s game as any other. It uses them to fulfill its own purposes, granting them just enough power to keep them loyal while ensuring they remain ignorant of its true goals. The Cult of the Coiled Serpent may believe they are on a path to domination, but Rakshasa is always one step ahead, guiding them down a road that serves only its own ends.
Rakshasa the Terrible may never set foot in Tharador itself, but its presence is felt in every corner of the land where the cult’s influence spreads. It is a force of deception and chaos, one that will stop at nothing to see Tharador thrown into disarray, and those who oppose it will find themselves caught in a web of lies and treachery from which there is no escape.
