Among the devout of Glanion, there are those who pay tribute to the Great Sun in the form of intricate dances, some of which last from dawn until dusk. Juri is one such Lightdancer, a powerful sorceress whose magic is harnessed with sunlight, rhythm and movement. The Hinatali hold great respect for the Lightdancers, who see them as heralds of fertility and bountiful harvests.
The Lightdancers are staple members of Glanion’s clergy in Hinatal. Juri is relatively young among her order, being the newest member with a tenure of four years, and the only member to have been ordained since Hinatal rose above the ground. In the times of darkness, the Lightdancers would perform sacred rituals of dance that would last hours and sometimes days, dedicating themselves to prayer through performance as they brought about desires for bountiful harvests, rains and sun.
Now they pray for Glanion’s favour and protection. For in harnessing his power with the Sun Sphere, they are able to protect their city from the most dastardly of evils. Juri was herself inspired after witnessing it destroy the forces of Mindoriel when they besieged the city four years ago, quitting her job as a tavern dancer to join the Lightdancers thereafter. Whilst some turn their nose at her past employment, calling her a harlot, she pays little mind.
For Juri, the warmth she feels in Glanion’s embrace as she dances through his radiance is unrivalled, and casts away all trepid thoughts and insults hurled by her peers. Whilst she still commands the respect and admiration of the plebeians, it is the elite and nobles who hold disdain for her, many thinking of her past to sully the sanctity of the Lightdancers. Unbeknownst to her, the council is currently debating whether to nullify her place within the clergy, or move her to a less sanctimonious role.
