Horzin has dwelt in the depths of the Tar Pool Swamps for decades, still remembering the time when Sovram ruled from atop Dragonmaw. Yet he never sought to stand at those heights with his master, instead preferring the bounds of the earth and the willows of the swamp. Yet now he sees the action of the Silverscales will lead to the demise of all, and is happily giving himself to a cause which would see them eradicated. In secret, in his temple, he plots against the Silverscales, holding the remaining eggs of Sovram’s mate. It is now his duty to hatch them, to ensure the line of the Darkscales continues.

One of the oldest living Darkscales, Horzin has dwelt in the Tar Pool Swamps since the days when Sovram still lived atop Dragonmaw Keep and the Silverscales treated their kind as equals. Those memories are from long ago though, and Horzin is alone among the Darkscales in remembering those times, remaining as Sovram’s closest advisor for the past they shared. Often he dwells on the Night of Betrayal, whether he should have been in Dragonmaw that night, whether he could have stopped the treacherous Silverscales from maiming his lord, or whether he would have simply been another corpse on the pyre by the end of the evening.

Yet Sovram has never held such grievances with his old ally, instead, the ancient black dragon has entrusted him with his most valuable assets: the eggs last hatched by his mate from millennia past. After her demise, it is all he has left of her, and can only pray to whatever Gods that will listen, that they might one day hatch, continuing on the legacy of the Darkscales and arising as the new rulers of the Isle, driving out the Silverscale invaders if he should fail. Horzin thus has dedicated his life to these eggs ever since, hiding them beneath the waters, in a sunken temple burrowing far below the swamp. Even if the Silverscales came to learn of their existence, they would have a difficult time reaching them, and they would be forced to slay Horzin to do so, a feat he ensures will not be easy.

With the coming war and the last final effort of Sovram, Horzin has been tasked to begin a plot to hatch the eggs, drawing on ancient draconic and druidic lore to do so. With the fate of his people at stake, he knows he cannot fail, lest the Silverscales triumph.
