A supposed descendant of the legendary explorer Janius Hardvin, Angela Hardvin has held onto this shred of family legacy as part of her identity since she was a small child, growing up in the slums of Underkeep Downs. Though there is an inkling within her that questions the legitimacy of her grandfather’s tales, whether they held truth, and were buried in a misery that only surfaced when doused in ale, or if they were simply the ramblings of a sad old man whose list of accomplishments could be scribbled on a child’s palm. Regardless, whether it is fact or fiction, it is part of her, and is seen to legitimise her in the eyes of the Underkeepers.
A high ranking captain within the Underkeepers, Angela Hardvin is considered the unofficial “Second in Charge” of the organisation. Her claim to fame within the gang’s hierarchy is as the alleged descendant of the legendary Baldurian explorer Janius Hardvin, who was the first explorer to lead a full expedition through the jungles of Ukrondia and map out its coastline. Indirectly because of Janius, Baldur founded its labor force in the Ukrondian slave trade that would come after. Though a controversial figure in modern Baldur, those within the Underkeepers revere him as a pioneer who set Baldur on its course for greatness.
Angela has often questioned the authenticity of this fact herself, being that her sole source of such information were the drunken ramblings of her grandfather, in the days he would watch her while her father worked at the shipyard. As a child she always believed his stories were completely earnest, but since his passing and into adulthood, she has wandered if they were little more than fairytales: dreams of a man who lived and died in Underkeep Downs, who envied the life of a man who shared his surname from centuries past. Regardless, it was a fact that had defined Angela from childhood, and even now, the prestige of her alleged ancestor was passed onto her.
It was what propelled her to be loved and accepted by the men of the Underkeepers, who otherwise may have just thought of her as a woman too big for her boots. Though her skillset as a special operative cemented her place in their ranks, and drew Vincent to value her, such chances would never have been given if she were just another commoner. An irony that was not lost on her, for the Underkeepers foundations. Still, they were a people who had brought unity and a semblance of peace to a small pocket of the slums many years ago, and to that she knew their heart was in the right place. After seeing the way the monarchy had treated her people her entire life, she new it was time for change, and the Underkeepers were just one of many trying to exact it.
