In her travels upon finally finding a shattered token of the chalice in Karkanoth, Elysia’s group was set upon by cultists of Nosmarka. As a sole survivor, Namneri bestowed upon her a gift of divine ascension. Arisen as a Selvaneri, she made quick work of the cultists and recovered the artefact. Now with her divine form, she is tasked as Namneri’s agent in finding the rest of his chalice’s broken shards.

Raised in a clergy in Canos, Elysia was orphaned as a babe, her mother perishing in childbirth and her father absconding away thereafter. A progeny of an Elven minstrel and a Human barmaid, her fate always would have been dire, for half-breeds are ill looked upon in the realm of Draksborne. The midwives at her mother’s side were left with little choice for the babe: it’d likely not survive the coming winter without a mother’s warmth, and with her father having fled, it seemed drowning the babe in the canals might be a mercy.

Yet it was a monk of Namneri who happened to be passing by as they took to the canals in the dead of night. Sensing what the midwives were about to do, he halted them. A divine sense emanated from the child, and he told the women that it was not the will of Namneri for this babe to perish now, and it was instead the will that he take it and raise it amongst the men and women of Namneri. Thus she was taken, her life now belonging to Namneri, the divine of death and the afterlife. Her childhood was melancholic, having few in the clergy her own age, and the carers of the temple being cold and objective towards her, despite their assurances of their care for her. Elysia was the name given to her by the monk who had found her, yet she was never given her rescuers name, nor would she ever have known if she met him. Always, she hoped and wished he was among those raising her: a watchful and caring eye, one that perhaps even held some form of love for the child he rescued. Though warmth was a rare thing in Namneri’s clergy, Elysia still received better food, bedding and education than any other orphans in Canos. She was well read, and seemed innately gifted in the art of divination, holding a powerful connection to Namneri’s magicks and his word.

She was only recently anointed as an ordained Cleric of Namneri when Canos was besieged by the profane ailment of Dragonblight. As the city was engulfed in death and disease, she and what few members of her clergy survived dedicated themselves to staunching the flood of death, providing healing and treatment to those whose times had not yet come to pass, were it not for the vile workings of Hendrak. She lost many of her mentors that day: people she had known her entire life. It haunted her, and all the teachings of death and acceptance passed onto her by them now felt perverted, warped by their unrighteous and seemingly pointless deaths. Disillusionment began to gnaw at her, questioning all that she held true for the last two decades. Yet weeks later she felt a great pain within her, as though her very soul and bind to Namneri had been severed. It was this time that Hendrak, machinator of Dragonblight and all the evils it wrought, corrupted Namneri’s Chalice in bid to ascend his own soul to Godhood. With little other choice, those that stood against him destroyed the Chalice, its shards scattering across the continent.

Elysia and a few other survivors from her clergy were one of many chapters sent across Tharador in search of these shards. It was in Karkanoth’s Empty Lands that they traced one piece, though as they moved to recover it, they were beset by a swarm of cultists mounted upon horses wreathed in shadows. All her kin perished, the last of Namneri’s clergy in Canos. As a rider was only metres from trampling her down, her severed bind felt suddenly renewed. A surge of power engulfed her, and from her back enormous angelic wings sprouted. Namneri had chosen her. She was now one of his Selvaneri. In barely a moment she suddenly brought each of the attacking cultists to their deaths, simply reaching out her hands and snuffing their souls one by one, even as they fled in terror. Finally, she recovered the piece of the Chalice she had been sent to find, returning it to Sundestra where many of the Tharameni had dedicated their servants, as the Chalice was to be rebuilt there
